  • Challenges neuro-cognitive abilities
  • Improves functional mobility
  • Improved Mental Decision Making
  • Improved hand eye coordination
  • Improved reaction times
  • Increased speed, accuracy and efficiency to absorb visual information
  • Improved concentration under stress and fatigue
  • Improved dynamic visual acuity

Partnership

We are proud to announce that McGuire Goaltending and Honsberger Physio will be working together in order to provide the best vision training service possible to athletes in the GTA.

Honsberger has been one of the most successful vision training centres in the country over the past 10 years and has worked  with athletes of all ages and levels.

ATHLETIC & ACADEMIC IMPROVEMENTS

Improvements in Athletics

image13

  • Ability to see and react faster to passes and shots.
  • Greater ability to see plays developing. Recognize, distinguish and track more players on the ice, field or court.
  • Create higher save percentage, higher batting average, stronger forehand and backhand reaction time (tennis), effective puck handling and dribbling, quicker reaction to rebounds.
  • Maintain focus throughout an entire game or match.
  • Maintain focus at the end of a game/match, or in a high stress situation like the last few minutes, overtime, or the championship game.

Improvements in Academics

image14

Sessions include multitasking with numbers, words, and movements, for example, calling out numbers on the D2 screen, while simultaneously hitting targets.

This will develop the athlete’s ability to focus and learn at the same time.

In other words, you can’t learn if you’re not focused.

You will also see improved scores on tests through efficient and effective decision making, cognitive processing (the gathering of information and using it effectively), increased memory and concentration.

HOW DOES VISION TRAINING HELP GOALIES?

IMPROVED PUCK TRACKING

image15

IN ONLY 30 MINUTES TWICE A WEEK YOU WILL SEE QUICK & DRASTIC IMPROVEMENTS IN A GOALTENDERS ABILITY TO TRACK THE PUCK.

Goaltending involves a number of both physical and mental skills that must work together.

Goaltenders who train with dynavision track pucks better, have the ability to read the play more consistently, react to rebounds faster, have improved focus, increase their field of vision and perform better under stress.

HAND-EYE COORDINATION

image16

HAND EYE COORDINATION is the ability of the vision system to coordinate information to direct, control, and guide the hands to accomplish a task.

As a goalies’ hand-eye coordination improves so will the number of saves. The goalie will be able to catch more pucks and steer pucks more precisely into the corner.

  • Improved speed and span of recognition
  • Improved anticipation and visual reaction

MENTAL ENDURANCE

image17

Mental Endurance: Dynavision trains a goalies brain to focus and maintain focus over time.

This allows a goalie to maintain focus throughout the game and in high stress situations. It also helps improve decision making under stress and concentration under fatigue that occurs during a game.

PERIPHERAL AWARENESS

image18

Peripheral Awareness: is the ability to see actions or objects that are not in your direct line of vision, but instead take place on the sides of your vision.

By improving a goalies peripheral awareness they will be able to read plays more precisely while maintaining visual contact with the puck.

COGNITIVE PROCESSING

image19

Cognitive Processing: is the ability to take in and use any information like sights and sounds.

The quicker a goalie is able to read and react to a play the quicker and more precisely they to get into position.

VISUAL REACTION TIME

image20

Visual Reaction Time: is the time required to respond to visual stimuli.

The quicker a goalie is able to pick up the puck, the hand of the opponents stick, the location of the stick etc. the quicker they will react.

CONCUSSION BASELINE TESTING & Concussion Recovery Programs

INDIVIDUALS, TEAMS, ASSOCIATIONS

Using our new Dynavision D2 we are able to create a "healthy brain" baseline for -

  • Individuals
  • Teams
  • Entire Organizations

We can effectively measure reaction time, memory, concentration and processing skills

Concussion Recovery Programs

Baseline concussion testing to help return to play protocol

Prevent and rehabilitate from concussions

If at any time during the season an athlete is concerned that they may have suffered a concussion they can come back and redo their baseline test and compare results.
